Commandment 1: Thou shalt not pitch without permission

How we present our offer on sales calls may actually be causing our potential clients to put their guards up¬†ūüíÄ

In this video I walk you through the 1st of 10 Modern Sales Commandments. I’ll show you how to identify if you’re making this fatal selling mistake and how to correct it in a gentle, non-pushy way.

Commandment 2: Thou shalt not be dependent on marketing

The first thing that we tend to think about when we need more leads for our business is marketing…

The truth is that if our messaging is broken, marketing only amplifies that broken message and brings in more unqualified leads.
 
And if our selling system is broken then we pay for leads that we can’t convert.
 
In this video I address our 2nd of the 10 Modern Selling Commandments and walk you through what you need to do in order to make your marketing work for you as an amplification tool.

Commandment 3: Thou shalt not use external urgency tactics

It’s no secret that urgency works, but could it be even MORE powerful (and far less icky feeling) if we switched it up?
 
When we were kids and our parents told us to do something that we weren’t sure we wanted to do, we felt resistance. That external push from our parents felt like pressure and it was uncomfortable, wasn’t it?
 
But when we knew it’s something we wanted, we were relentless in the pursuit. An internal sense of urgency drove us to push forward until we got exactly what we wanted.
 
This is why the 3rd Modern Sales Commandment is “Thou Shalt Not Use External Urgency Tactics”. I explain it in detail in this video and also walk you through how to help your clients find their INTERNAL urgency instead.

Commandment 4: Thou shalt not speak to unqualified prospects

Oooh that feeling when we get to the end of a sales presentation and hear “Well, I’m just not really ready to make a decision today” or “I definitely can’t afford it, but thanks anyways” ūüėę
 
Sure, this is disappointing for us as business owners, but it’s equally as disappointing for your prospect (and not a loving thing to do to them whatsoever!)

Commandment 5: Thou shalt not sell without a guarantee

But, how can we guarantee results for our clients when so much is dependent on them implementing?

Commandment 6: Thou shalt not sell on the fly

How would it feel if you saw your doctor at a party and casually mentioned an issue that you were having and they asked you to drop your pants so they could take a look?
 
Probably pretty uncomfortable, right?
 
In fact in less extreme examples it’s equally uncomfortable when we switch the context of a conversation on someone — even when we’re only trying to help them.
 
Yet when we come across someone who mentions something we can help them with what do we do? We excitedly start pitching them our stuff ūüôą

Commandment 7: Thou shalt not market without knowing thy numbers

Commandment 8: Thou shalt not rely on passive word of mouth

Our egos are manipulative, aren’t they?¬† The truth is, with family, friends, problems, work, and a million other things on their minds, OUR businesses are the furthest thing from our client’s minds.

Which means that, even if we do a bang up job, we’re only likely to get passive referrals when someone specifically asks your past client who they can recommend.

Commandment 9: Thou shalt not enter follow-up hell

It’s awkward for us when we go to followup with someone and we’re thinking “is it too much? Is it too soon? Do they even truly want me to follow up?”
 
It’s equally as awkward for our potential client.
 
In this video I walk you through how to avoid the perpetual followup cycle and lead someone to a 100% yes or a 100% no within 24 hours of speaking with them.
